Library E-cards Available
Tyrrell County Schools is pleased to introduce a new, free reading service providing digital books through a partnership with the Pettigrew Regional Library System and the Tyrrell County Public Library. Digital books, or eBooks, along with audiobooks and videos will be available online to access anytime, anywhere on a computer, tablet, smartphone, or eReader. Whether a student is looking for study guides, classics for required reading, or the latest popular juvenile or young adult fiction, they can find it all among the thousands of titles made available within this digital collection.
To access the eBook collection students will need a library E-card. Letters explaining this service along with permission forms will be sent home with your child this week. You can also download this letters using the links below. The purpose of these letters is to describe our opt-in/opt-out procedures used for determining who receives a library E-card and to make you aware of the range of materials available within this online collection. This online public library collection is hosted by Overdrive which provides a wide variety of childrens, young adult, and adult ebooks and audiobooks free of charge to all users. Every public library has a range of reading options some of which, depending on the child's age, will require parental monitoring. We want you to understand that since this is a service provided by the Pettigrew Regional Library system we here at Tyrrell County Schools will not be able to monitor your child’s choice of reading material. It is up to you as a parent or guardian to monitor your child’s selection of digital reading materials.
Please contact the Tyrrell Elementary School media coordinator, Audrey Curles, the district technology director, Allen Lee, or Debbie Davenport, head librarian at to the Tyrrell County Public Library if you have questions about the E-cards, how to use the Overdrive service, or if you have questions or comments about the materials in the collection.
