Martin Luther King, Jr. day Observed

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr stands before a crowd in Washington DC

Tyrrell County Schools will be closed on January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. We hope you can join us for the Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on Monday, January 15 at 11:00 on the Tyrrell County Courthouse steps followed by a march to the Madge Vanhorn Auditorium for a program to honor Dr. King. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America. We commemorate as well the timeless values he taught us through his example – the values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service that so radiantly defined Dr. King’s character and empowered his leadership. On this holiday, we commemorate the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that empowered his revolutionary spirit.
