Reaching for the Highest Pointe

New Leader of Columbia Early College High School has School Leadership in his Blood

When Clarence Pointe II (known as CP) was a little boy, he walked the school hallways with his dad, Mr. Pointe, Sr. For over 20 years, CP was able to observe his dad in a principalship in various schools. It doesn’t stop there, his mom is a retired educator who is still actively teaching. The business of education runs in the blood of Mr. Clarence Pointe II, however he didn’t start in education.

Obtaining a Business Management degree from ECU, Mr. Pointe first began as a restaurateur and entrepreneur. He has managed franchise restaurants, providing experience in how to serve people and how to manage a staff. When he obtained his Masters in School Administration and Supervision, the seasoning of his prior work and his newfound passion for education led him on a journey of legacy and leadership. The past work from managing restaurants, human capital, then students, classrooms, athletics, and schools has helped him develop a well-rounded approach to school leadership.

His application states, “In addition to instructional leadership, I bring strong organizational and behavioral management skills. I have experience handling student discipline in a restorative and proactive manner, implementing systems to support school safety, and using culturally responsive practices to ensure all students feel seen and valued”. The characteristics he explains here will only enhance the foundation and assist Columbia Middle/High School to go higher.

With the support of a family principal mentor, a family-based classroom educator, and a new family of Wildcats, there are no limits and exceptional potential as we begin the 2026-27 school year. Please welcome Mr. Clarence Pointe II as the new principal of Columbia Middle and Columbia Early College High School.
