Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) for summer is being issued this week for eligible children. Children under age 6 and students who received Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) or were eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school as of the last full month of the 2020-21 school year will receive summer P-EBT. Additionally, children under 6 or students who apply and are approved for Food and Nutrition Services or free or reduced-price meals in the summer (prior to August 31) will be eligible to receive the full summer P-EBT benefit at the end of the summer. Summer P-EBT is being issued this week to eligible children. Students and children under 6 who were eligible as of the last full month of the 2020-21 school year will begin to receive their one-time summer benefit by the end of July and stagger for 10 days into August. Students and children under 6 who become eligible during the summer period by being approved for FNS or free or reduced-price school meals (prior to August 31) will receive their summer benefit at the end of September or in October. North Carolina children who are eligible for summer P-EBT will receive a one-time payment of $375, a standard benefit amount set by the United States Department of Agriculture. The summer benefit amount is not dependent on learning mode or participation in virtual instruction. Families will receive $375 per eligible child even if they become eligible through being approved for FNS or free or reduced priced meals later in the summer (on or before August 31).
