NCWiseOwl eBooks for Summer Reading

Reading doesn’t need to stop this summer! NCWiseOwl has thousands of books available with unlimited usage, great for leisure reading or checking off some of those books on your summer reading lists. The eBooks collections can be found from the leveled pages or the eBooks page.

The Literary Reference Center enhances the experience of reading literary classics with accompanying reviews, plot summaries, critiques and author biographies. Search for copies of the classics under Full-Text Classics. The toolkit eBook section includes downloadable lists, promotional handouts, slide decks, tutorials and recorded webinars.

Pre-K Registration

Pre-K Registration Screenings will take place on June 14th – 17th. Interested parents should call Tyrrell Elementary School at 796-3881 for a screening appointment before June 1st.

Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Notification

Our school district is informing stakeholders of a positive COVID-19 case at Columbia Middle School and on Bus 107. The district will be directly reaching out to staff and students identified as Direct Exposures in this case.

Reminder: Broadband Resources for Families

Broadband services are being made available to families with limited or no broadband resources through the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program gives low-income households a discount on internet services. The program, administered by the Federal Communications Commission, opens for enrollment on May 12, 2021.

TCS Superintendent, Oliver A. Holley, Elected to Serve as Chairman of NERESA

The Northeast Regional Educational Service Alliance (NERESA) has elected Tyrrell County Schools Superintendent, Oliver A. Holley, to serve as Chairman.  The NERESA consists of 17 regional school districts, including Tyrrell, Washington, Edenton-Chowan, Elizabeth City-Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Dare, Perquimans and Hyde counties.

“I look forward to continuing the work of our region. We must ensure that we continue to provide our students, staff and stakeholders with the best educational opportunities. It is truly humbling and an honor to have the support of our regional superintendents,” Holley said.

“I would like to thank the Tyrrell County Schools Board of Education for your continued support and dedication to this work, and the work of the district”, Holley reiterated. “I appreciate and value the relationships and care the Board has for me and the students, employees and community as their leadership continues to be influential throughout our district, region and state.”

TCS Board of Education Meeting Notification

This is a reminder that the TCS Board of Education monthly meeting for May has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 11th, 5:30pm for Closed Session & 6:30 pm for Open Session.

TCS 2021 Academic Calendar Change Announcement

On Monday, April 26th, the Tyrrell County Schools Board of Education met and discussed increasing instructional hours for the remainder of the year.  A motion was passed approving the TCS Re-Entry Plan change to convert the remaining Remote Wednesdays (after this week) to On-Campus Instructional Days.   All schools will now be open on May 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th & TES & CMS, only, on June 2nd.  School hours will remain the same as what is currently in place, being 8am to 1pm.

El lunes 26 de abril, El Borde de Educación de las Escuelas del Condado de Tyrrell se reunió y discutió el aumento de las horas de instrucción para el resto del año escolar del 2020-21. Se aprobó una moción aprobando el cambio del plan de reingreso de Las Escuelas del Condado de Tyrrell para convertir los miércoles remotos restantes (comenzando la próxima semana) en días de instrucción presenciales en la escuela. Todas las escuelas estarán abiertas el 5, 12, 19, 26 de mayo y TES y CMS solamente el 2 de junio. El horario escolar seguirá siendo el mismo, que es de 8 de la mañana a 1 de la tarde.
